What we collect
When you use SurroScore — whether browsing the directory, using our compensation calculator, or going through our matching funnel — we may collect the following:
- Identity information: First name, last name
- Contact information: Email address
- Health & pregnancy history: Number of previous pregnancies, deliveries, BMI range, and general health status you choose to share
- Financial information: Household income range, insurance type (used to estimate compensation eligibility)
- Location: State or region (used to match you with agencies that operate in your area)
- Preferences: Agency preferences, timeline, journey goals, and any details you voluntarily add
- Usage data: Pages visited, funnel progress, browser-session identifiers, and site analytics; funnel progress may be associated with a browser session or account
You control what you share. You can use parts of SurroScore — like browsing agency profiles or reading reviews — without providing any personal information.
If you choose the private save-and-resume intake, we collect only your state, surrogacy experience, adult age range, and BMI for that draft. We require a verified account, confirmation that you are at least 21, and separate consent before saving it. This private draft is not an application and is not linked to older PocketBase account records.
How we use it
We use the information you share for these purposes:
- Matching: The older matching feature is paused; if made available later under separate terms and consent, it would use profile, location, and preferences to connect you with agencies
- Estimates: To generate personalized compensation estimates based on your eligibility factors
- Experience: To personalize your experience on SurroScore (e.g., saving your funnel progress, showing relevant agencies)
- Improvement: To understand site usage and funnel progress, including records linked to a browser session or an account
- Communication: To send verification codes needed to access an account and other information you request; you can opt out of optional marketing messages
Information from older site features may have been used to personalize estimates and agency matches. Matching is not currently available. We do not sell that information for behavioral advertising.
We use private-draft answers only to let you save, return to, edit, and export your draft and to provide narrowly authorized support. We do not use these answers for matching, medical eligibility decisions, marketing, or site analytics.
Sharing your data
🔒 Your data is NEVER shared with any agency without your explicit consent. Full stop. You decide if and when an agency sees your information.
Here's our complete data-sharing policy:
- Agencies: We do not send your profile to agencies automatically. Agency connection is currently paused. A later connection would require a clear confirmation and separate consent before information is shared.
- Third parties: We do not sell or rent your personal data to data brokers or advertisers. We use service providers for necessary site operations as described below.
- Service providers: For account verification emails, we send your email address and verification code to Brevo, our email delivery provider. Other technical vendors may help operate the site; account information is not shared with agencies merely because you create an account.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public — but we'll always try to notify you first where legally permitted.
We do not send the private draft to an agency. Kyle Long is the only authorized staff viewer for this release; he must use separate email and authenticator verification, a documented purpose and a limited single-draft authorization. Each access is logged. Infrastructure operators may have technical access to the database and encrypted backups; this staff-viewer restriction is not a claim that nobody can administer the server.
How it's stored
Account records are stored in a private self-hosted database; older site records may remain in PocketBase. We use our own server for these account records.
- Account contact information is encrypted before storage; other account records are not all encrypted field by field
- Data sent between your browser and our site is protected by HTTPS
- Access to the server-side account database is restricted to authorized service operators
Account creation does not migrate or connect records from the older PocketBase system. Contact us to request access to or correction of information we hold.
The private draft is encrypted before storage in our self-hosted account database and is accessible through a verified account session. It expires 90 days after the last save. You may view, correct or export an active draft, or withdraw its separate consent; withdrawal removes the active draft while required consent records remain. Encrypted backup copies may remain for up to 30 days. Restoring a backup discards all private drafts before use, including drafts that had not expired, so backup restoration cannot recover your answers. A full-account deletion request is reviewed and is not immediate erasure; contact us for its status.
Cookies & local storage
SurroScore uses browser storage and cookies for different site features:
- New accounts: A Secure, HttpOnly session cookie is used for the new account system
- Older site features: Older site features may use localStorage for sign-in hints and to save funnel progress; these do not authenticate a new account
We use Google Analytics to measure site usage. Its scripts may set analytics cookies or send usage information to Google. We do not use advertising pixels through the account page. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
You can clear your browser's localStorage and cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Your rights
You can contact us about your personal information and make the following requests:
- Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: You can request account deletion. Requests are reviewed; we will confirm what data can be deleted and what must be retained. Submitting a request does not immediately erase data.
- Portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out: You can opt out of optional marketing email. Verification codes required for account access are not marketing messages.

Children & minors
SurroScore is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. Surrogacy requires you to be at least 21 years old with most agencies, and this platform is designed for adults exploring that path.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate and take appropriate steps to remove the information where possible.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Check this page for the current policy.
Continued use of SurroScore after a policy update means you accept the revised terms. If you don't agree, you can request account deletion at any time.
