What we collect
When you use SurroScore — whether browsing the directory, using our compensation calculator, or going through our matching funnel — we may collect the following:
- Identity information: First name, last name
- Contact information: Email address
- Health & pregnancy history: Number of previous pregnancies, deliveries, BMI range, and general health status you choose to share
- Financial information: Household income range, insurance type (used to estimate compensation eligibility)
- Location: State or region (used to match you with agencies that operate in your area)
- Preferences: Agency preferences, timeline, journey goals, and any details you voluntarily add
- Usage data: Pages visited, funnel progress, and general analytics (collected anonymously or in aggregate)
You control what you share. You can use parts of SurroScore — like browsing agency profiles or reading reviews — without providing any personal information.
How we use it
We use the information you share for three main purposes:
- Matching: To connect you with surrogacy agencies that are a good fit for your profile, location, and preferences
- Estimates: To generate personalized compensation estimates based on your eligibility factors
- Experience: To personalize your experience on SurroScore (e.g., saving your funnel progress, showing relevant agencies)
- Improvement: To understand how people use the platform so we can make it better — always in aggregate, never tied to your identity without consent
- Communication: To send you information you've requested, like your match results or agency recommendations (you can unsubscribe anytime)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your surrogacy journey.
Sharing your data
🔒 Your data is NEVER shared with any agency without your explicit consent. Full stop. You decide if and when an agency sees your information.
Here's our complete data-sharing policy:
- Agencies: We do not send your profile to agencies automatically. If you choose to connect with a specific agency through SurroScore, you'll see a clear confirmation before your information is shared.
- Third parties: We do not sell, rent, trade, or give your personal data to any third party — ever. Not to data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else.
- Service providers: We may use trusted technical vendors (e.g., email delivery, analytics) who act strictly as data processors under our instruction, bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public — but we'll always try to notify you first where legally permitted.
How it's stored
Your data is stored in PocketBase, a self-hosted, open-source backend that runs on our own servers. This means:
- We don't store your data in large third-party cloud databases like AWS or Google Cloud
- Data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- Access is restricted to authorized SurroScore personnel only
- We maintain regular backups in secure, encrypted storage
By keeping infrastructure self-hosted, we minimize the risk of third-party breaches and keep your data under our direct control.
Cookies & local storage
We keep it minimal. SurroScore uses:
- Auth tokens: A secure cookie to keep you logged in if you create an account
- localStorage: To save your funnel progress so you don't lose your answers if you close the tab mid-way
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind. No Google Ads cookies. No Facebook Pixel. Nothing like that.
You can clear your browser's localStorage and cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Your rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: You can request that we delete all of your data at any time — no questions asked
- Portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out: You can unsubscribe from any emails at any time

Children & minors
SurroScore is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. Surrogacy requires you to be at least 21 years old with most agencies, and this platform is designed for adults exploring that path.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately at support@surroscore.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and — if the changes are significant — notify registered users by email.
Continued use of SurroScore after a policy update means you accept the revised terms. If you don't agree, you can request account deletion at any time.
